Are you bothered by floppy ears? Read about the experience after ear surgery

For many people, the problem of standing or stuck ears is a problem throughout their lives. The very quality of life of a person with plugged ears is impaired because they face uncomfortable situations and shame in everyday life. Ear surgery is the ultimate solution to the problem, and Bernarda (29) also decided on it, and we moved the upper part of her ears closer to her head.

Pinched ears

Bernarda had proportional, that is, small and beautifully shaped ears, and the only thing that was noticeable was the distance between the ears and the head.

“I’ve been hiding my ears since I was little. I’ve never left the apartment with my hair up – not to the store, not to work, not even hiking, dancing or training where my hair really bothered me. I found out about otoplasty as a child and since then it’s been a silent wish of mine, which I realized after 30 years,” Bernarda revealed during a consultation where we did the first ear examination and talked about her wishes and possibilities.

At the Bagatin Polyclinic, children over the age of six can have their ears corrected, and we recommend that the procedure be performed before they start school. The procedure takes 60 to 90 minutes and is performed under general or local anesthesia, and the surgical incision is almost invisible because it is located between the ear and the head.

“I was nervous before entering the operating room, but the entire operation went great. The team in the room did their best to calm me down and make sure the entire process went not only smoothly, but also in a cheerful spirit,” said the satisfied patient.

After the surgery, the patient received a bandage that had to be worn for 48 hours, which was then replaced with an elastic band.

“The day after the surgery, I came in for a bandage and saw the result for the first time. Despite the fact that my ears were swollen, I was thrilled with their shape and position. I wore the bandage day and night for the next month to ensure the recovery went smoothly,” says Bernarda.

We also advise patients to sleep in an elevated position for at least two weeks after surgery. Moderate pain and discomfort are possible and can be managed with painkillers prescribed by a doctor.

“I am extremely happy with the end result. I started wearing a high ponytail, earrings and hair ornaments, and those around me couldn’t help but notice that I was a more confident person,” Bernarda concluded.
