Breast augmentation is a surgical method that improves the appearance or achieves greater breast volume, and is one of the most common procedures at the Bagatin Polyclinic.
It is performed by installing implants that are designed to increase small, underdeveloped breasts or after breastfeeding to restore and increase breast volume.
Choosing the right implant size is the most important joint decision between the patient and the surgeon.
When the implants are too large compared to your breast tissue, or if it does not provide adequate coverage, the ends of the implants may be visible through the skin and noticeable after plastic surgery.
Likewise, an inappropriate implant size can increase the influence of gravity due to weight and promote premature sagging of the breasts.
Today, before the surgery itself, you can see in a 3D simulation what you would look like after the procedure, which greatly helps communication between the doctor and the patient.
This device is called VECTRA XT 3D and in the region it is available exclusively in our Polyclinic.
In breast augmentation with silicone implants, simulations are based on the actual implants we use during the procedure, which are currently the highest quality implants on the market.
Also, asymmetry (uneven breast size) can be corrected or breast surgical reconstruction can be done after mastectomy (removal of the breast).
At Bagatin Polyclinic, we use exclusively Mentor implants from Johnson & Johnson, which are produced under strictly controlled conditions.
The implants are filled with the latest generation of cohesive silicone gel, and the patient can choose between two implant shapes, anatomical teardrop-shaped or round, depending on the effect she wants to achieve.
If you would like to have all the information about breast augmentation in our Polyclinic, download the informative Guide to Breast Augmentation Surgery below, in which you can learn everything about preoperative preparation, VECTRA XT 3D consultations with the doctor, implant types and textures, the region of implantation, the postoperative period and precautions.
You can also view more information and details of the operations in the 3D animation that opens when you click on the blue “banner” on the right.
3D animations of procedures provide patients and potential patients with an excellent overview of what is happening during the procedure.
Animation covers all aspects of the procedure, from the decision-making process to preparation for the procedure and the procedure itself to recovery after the procedure, providing the patient with a visual and audio representation.
Doctors and staff are ready to help everyone and answer all questions, and in this way, the 3D animation of the procedure itself can provide answers to numerous questions.
Popular procedures such as breast augmentation are clearly explained, which gives the patient an additional sense of security.
Women opt for breast augmentation to improve their appearance in a way that helps boost self-confidence or reduce self-criticism.
These are typical aesthetic problems that patients want to correct:
Four to six weeks before the procedure, you should stop smoking, and two weeks before, stop taking aspirin, herbal preparations or any other supplements that affect blood coagulation, as well as certain medications that prevent inflammation, as their content can cause significant bleeding.
During your consultation at the Bagatin Polyclinic, talk honestly with your doctor about your expectations, be open about your medical history, allergies to medications or food, and tell your doctor if you suffer from any chronic diseases or take certain medications.
Doctor Bagatin will perform the examination with the VECTRA 3D device, which provides a realistic 3D simulation of your body, giving us the opportunity to show patients what they might look like after the procedure.
You can see what consultations with the VECTRA 3D device look like here .
12 to 24 hours before the procedure, we strongly recommend: the day before the procedure, use antibacterial soap and leave the soap foam for about 10 minutes on the part of the body that will undergo the procedure.
Repeat the same thing on the morning of the procedure. Wash your breasts and armpits thoroughly.
Eight hours before surgery: do not eat or drink, remove all jewelry, and remove nail polish from your fingers and toes.
Breast augmentation surgery usually takes about two to three hours and is performed under general anesthesia, which means you are asleep during the surgery.
You can find out more about the anesthesiology examination at our Polyclinic and the differences between general and local anesthesia here .
During the procedure, an incision is made under the breast in the natural breast crease, around the lower edge of the nipple, or under the armpit.
Silicone gel-filled implants are placed under breast tissue or under muscle, most often partially under the gland and partially under the muscle, depending on the size or shape you want to achieve, as well as whether your job requires significant effort.
Dr. Bagatin will work with you to decide which size, shape, and type of implant is best for shaping your breasts.
Immediately after the procedure, you will feel pain, swelling, bruising, chest pressure, and possible difficulty breathing.
This is normal and your symptoms will improve over the next few weeks, and you will be given painkillers if you need them.
In order to go home safely and in good general condition, after the surgery, you will be placed in a recovery room for several hours.
After the procedure, a soft, comfortable compression bra is worn for four weeks to reduce postoperative swelling and keep the implant in place.
You will gradually return to normal activities over the next two to three weeks, while you can engage in greater exertion after six weeks.
Drainage is not usually placed after cosmetic breast augmentation, but such a possibility exists and it is not a cause for concern if a small surgical drain is placed, usually overnight, while your breasts will be wrapped with elastic bands.
After the operation, you will receive a continuous strong pain reliever intravenously.
Patients who are more sensitive to painkillers may experience nausea and should immediately inform the nurse.
The recovery time required after breast augmentation depends on the procedure being performed and the patient.
Most patients need help during the first and second days, after which they can usually take care of themselves, but there is a possibility that they may need help caring for small children.
Patients can function normally on the second day after the procedure, but this can vary from individual to individual.
Many people can return to work within 7 to 10 days, but this also depends on the individual. It is necessary to avoid heavy exertion and heavy lifting for the next 4 to 6 weeks.
Follow your doctor’s instructions to ensure you recover as well as possible after the procedure. It is usually recommended that you attend several post-operative check-ups so that Dr. Bagatin can monitor your recovery.
Every surgical procedure carries certain risks, such as risks of anesthesia, infection, bleeding, and swelling.
These complications occur rarely and can usually be avoided.
Although pain after the procedure is usually minor, when it is present, it is easily relieved with appropriate medications.
With implants that are placed under the muscles, due to the initial stretching of the muscles, some patients complain of tightness, which usually subsides a few days after the procedure.
When implants are inserted into the body, capsular contraction can sometimes occur, causing breast hardness, discomfort, occasional breast pain, and a change in breast shape.
Capsular contracture occurs when tissue heals with a strong scar around a foreign body like an implant.
At the Bagatin Polyclinic, in addition to a top-notch, internationally recognized anesthesiologist, we also have the most modern anesthesia equipment, which ensures safety for the patient and reduces the risk of the surgery itself.
However, very often the responsibility for avoiding risks lies with you.
During your consultation, Dr. Bagatin will explain the risks of the surgery in detail and provide instructions that you should follow in the postoperative period.
The package includes: preoperative examination by an anesthesiologist, surgery under general anesthesia, a short stay at the Bagatin Polyclinic, necessary medications (antibiotics, analgesics), check-ups and dressings in the first postoperative days, removal of stitches, and necessary check-ups up to 6 months after the procedure.
The package does not include: the first consultation with a doctor, blood tests, ECG, chest X-ray, or an examination by an internist, the cost of an overnight stay, costs before admission to the Bagatin Polyclinic, telephone costs, medications that you will take at home, consultations with other specialists such as a specialist for diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, thyroid, allergy medicine, heart medicine, etc.
In cooperation with banks, Bagatin Polyclinic provides the option of paying in installments, as well as interest-free payments up to a certain number of installments.
