Treatment for excessive sweating

Besides creating an uncomfortable feeling, sweating bothers many people for aesthetic reasons.

The problem is not normal, but excessive sweating, regardless of the season, temperature, and other weather conditions.

While normal amounts of sweat help the body get rid of harmful substances and regulate temperature, excessive sweating is not good for the health of the body.

Description of the procedure

Hyperhidrosis is excessive secretion of sweat, and we associate it with staying at very high temperatures, intense physical activity, consumption of spicy food and alcohol, excess body weight, stress, pregnancy and other factors. In addition, there are people who have genetically inherited a tendency to sweat more.

On average, a person excretes about 700 ml of sweat per day, but it all depends on the individual’s body type, age, and lifestyle habits.

If sweating bothers you so much that it affects your self-confidence, and you choose your clothes based on colors and materials, there is a solution.

Antiperspirant therapy is effective for hyperhidrosis in most patients.

The treatment at the Bagatin Polyclinic lasts about an hour and you can then resume your normal activities. This preparation works by temporarily blocking the conduction of chemical nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands.

It is important to emphasize that this treatment does not cure the problem of hyperhidrosis, but rather eliminates excessive sweating, on average for up to six months.

After a few months, a person can expect a gradual return of symptoms and, if desired, can repeat the treatment again.

For most people, it is enough to do this procedure twice a year.

Candidates

Both women and men who suffer from this problem can be candidates for anti-perspirant therapy. In practice, it has been shown that women are more likely to have hyperhidrosis than men.

Despite the impact of excessive sweating on all daily activities, many people do not seek a solution or treatment. Unfortunately, this happens because they do not realize that their problem is medical in nature and that it can be treated. This treatment is ideal for people who want to solve or at least alleviate the problem of excessive sweating in the armpits, palms and feet.

Preparation

No preparation is required before arriving for treatment. The immediate preparation of the treatment area will be done by a nurse and doctor at the Bagatin Polyclinic.

A detailed insight into the arrangement of sweat glands is necessary, as they can vary significantly from person to person. Many poorly educated doctors ignore this fact, which is why their results are not satisfactory.

During the consultation, be sure to inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding, planning to become pregnant soon, or suffer from a disease that affects the nerves or muscles (the disease increases the risk of side effects).

Procedure progress

The treatment begins by applying an anesthetic cream to the area to be treated. The anesthetic cream begins to work within 15 minutes of application.

After that, the treated area is wiped with sterile compresses and sterile saline solution to remove the cream and clean the area where the anti-perspirant therapy will be applied.

Although a dose of 100 units is sufficient in most cases, in the case of a large concentration of sweat glands, there is a possibility that in a shorter period of time additional application of antiperspirant therapy will be necessary to achieve a 100% effect.

Anti-perspirant therapy is administered with interdermal injections, with about ten injections into the desired area to evenly distribute the preparation. Before the application, the doctor will assess the distribution and density of the sweat glands.

Recovery

After the treatment is complete, you can return to your normal activities.

It is not recommended to apply any cosmetics immediately after the treatment. We also recommend avoiding saunas and solariums for a few days after the treatment.

The results of the treatment usually last between 9 and 12 months. After this period, the amount of sweating decreases until the activity of the sweat glands returns to the state before the application of anti-perspirant therapy.

To maintain the desired results, we recommend performing the treatment twice a year. This treatment can be done in all seasons, regardless of summer or winter.

Precautions

Experience to date has shown that clients of the Bagatin Polyclinic, who use anti-perspirant therapy on average twice a year, do not experience any side effects.

In terms of health, there are no harmful consequences, and experience shows that the treatment is truly a lifesaver for people who sweat excessively, and after six to nine months they repeat the procedure, which guarantees them functioning without unnecessary signs of nervousness and discomfort.

A mild local reaction may occur at the injection site, such as swelling or a burning sensation, which will subside in a short time because this is a reaction to the injection, not to the anti-perspirant therapy applied.

Price

The package at the Bagatin Polyclinic includes the price of the product itself, preparation and the treatment procedure itself, and if necessary, a check-up after 2 weeks.

In cooperation with banks, Bagatin Polyclinic provides the option of paying in installments, as well as interest-free payments up to a certain number of installments.

Frequently asked questions

What is anti-sweating therapy?

It is a medical treatment that uses botulinum toxin type A, known as anti-sweating therapy to temporarily block the nerve signals that activate the sweat glands . It effectively addresses the problem of excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in the most common areas.

Which regions can be treated?

  • Armpits

  • Palms

  • Feet

What does the treatment look like?

The treatment is performed with very fine needles that apply anti-perspirant therapy superficially to the skin. The procedure itself takes 15 to 30 minutes , depending on the region.

How long does the effect last?

Results last 4 to 9 months , depending on the person and the area treated. The treatment can be repeated several times a year without any adverse effects.

Can anti-perspirant therapy also be used aesthetically?

Absolutely – the antiperspirant preparation is also used to remove mimic wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes. For some patients, we combine wrinkle and hyperhidrosis therapy in one visit.

Will I sweat more in other places after the treatment?

No. Compensatory sweating (increased sweating in other regions) is not common with treatment of the armpits or localized areas with botulinum toxin.
