About us
Locations
Food and drink
Coffee, red wine, tea, and blueberry juices can leave stains on your teeth.
Some foods, such as tomatoes, curry, soy, or berries, can cause stains due to their strong colors.
Smoking and tobacco
Smoking cigarettes or using other tobacco products can cause yellow or brown stains on your teeth.
Enamel wear
Over time, tooth enamel can wear away, exposing the yellow dentin underneath, leading to discoloration.
Genetics
Some people have naturally darker teeth due to genetics, while others may have lighter teeth.
Medicines
Using tetracycline or doxycycline during childhood can cause permanent tooth discoloration.
Some antihistamines, antipsychotics, and blood pressure medications can also cause discoloration.
Dental diseases
Dental caries can cause changes in the color of teeth, often resulting in a darker or mottled appearance.
Conditions such as gingivitis or periodontal disease can affect the appearance of teeth and gums.
Acidity
Consuming acidic foods (e.g. citrus fruits) or carbonated drinks can erode enamel, exposing yellower dentin.
Laser teeth whitening
In our Polyclinic, we use the most modern technology of the diode laser EPIC™ 10, which represents the latest laser innovation, and is the result of 25 years of engineering by the American company Biolase.
Epic is the only diode laser that has three unique modes of operation (therapy): soft tissue surgery, whitening and pain reduction, which ensures a versatile approach to dental treatment, and thus a more pleasant treatment for the client, that is, the patient.
Opalescence home teeth whitening kit
With an individual approach and splints tailored to your teeth, a good result is ensured. You can save the made splints and reuse them for new whitening
With a home set, you will save time spent in the dental office.
Before laser teeth whitening, the dental doctors at the Bagatin Polyclinic will examine your teeth and supporting tissues and, if necessary, clean the tartar and polish your teeth.
Then, they will protect the mucous membrane and gums, after which a hydrogen peroxide-based gel is applied to the teeth.
The laser light beam potentiates the release of oxygen from the gel, which breaks down pigment molecules in the tooth, leaving the tooth structure unchanged.
The treatment itself takes a short time, and the effects of teeth whitening can last up to three years. However, this varies from person to person and depends largely on lifestyle habits.
This type of whitening requires two visits to our clinic.
When you first come to our Dental Center, we will take care of taking an impression for the purpose of creating individualized dental splints, as well as cleaning tartar and sandblasting.
At the second visit, the splints will be lifted and a detailed introduction to the home whitening protocol and process will be provided to you to achieve the best possible results.
Maintaining good oral hygiene
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, using a toothpaste that contains fluoride and may be specialized in whitening. This will help remove plaque and prevent stains.
Cleaning between teeth with dental floss or interdental brushes removes food debris and plaque that can cause stains.
Avoid certain foods and drinks
Limit your intake of foods and drinks that can cause stains, such as coffee, red wine, tea, dark juice, and colored sauces (e.g., tomato sauce or curry).
If you consume these foods, rinse your mouth with water immediately after eating or drinking to reduce their ability to leave stains.
Avoid tobacco products
Smoking and other tobacco use can lead to yellow stains on teeth. Quitting can significantly improve the appearance of your teeth.
Professional cleaning
Regular visits to the dentist for professional teeth cleaning help remove hard deposits and stains, and also allow the dentist to monitor the health of your teeth and gums.
Consider re-professional whitening every year or as recommended by your dentist.
Using whitening products
Incorporate toothpastes that are designed for whitening into your oral hygiene routine. These toothpastes can help maintain a lighter tooth color.
Periodic use of at-home whitening gels or strips can help maintain the whiteness of your teeth. Follow the instructions for use and do not overdo it.
Monitor sensitivity
If you notice increased tooth sensitivity after whitening, let your dentist know. They can recommend toothpastes for sensitive teeth or adjust your treatment.
