Description of the procedure
Relaxation of the platysma muscle on the front of the neck leads to the creation of unaesthetic folds that are laid vertically with additional skin laxity.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and consists of mobilizing the relaxed platysma muscle and removing excess skin, tightening it, and joining the edges behind the ear and in the front line and in the invisible zone under the chin, depending on the extent of the procedure.

Candidates
Since the aging process manifests itself individually in each of us, the optimal age for performing a neck lift varies for each person.
The age that is considered suitable for performing this procedure for most people is between 40 and 60 years of age.

Preparation

Also, for aesthetic neck tightening surgery, standard blood and urine tests are required, specifically: CBC, SE, coagulogram (PV, APTV and fibrinogen), GUK, urea, creatinine, KG and Rh factor, complete urine, ECG and examination by an internist.
You will receive a list of necessary tests during your consultation at the Bagatin Polyclinic. With the finished findings, it is necessary to undergo an examination by an anesthesiologist in our Polyclinic, where everything related to the general anesthesia in which the procedure is performed will be explained to you.
Before surgery, you need to stop smoking and taking medications that could potentially affect the surgery and recovery, which the medical staff will provide you with more detailed information about.
Procedure progress
A neck lift is performed under general anesthesia, and the procedure itself takes up to two hours, depending on the problem and the amount of sagging skin.
The incisions are made in places where there are natural folds of the skin – behind the ear and under the chin. Platysmoplasty corrects relaxed platysmal muscles that we see as sharp vertical lines on the neck, and if necessary, neck liposuction is performed to remove excess fatty tissue. It is most often about VASERlipo ultrasonic liposuction , the most modern technology in the world of liposuction.
Due to the positioning of the incisions closest to the existing skin furrows and wrinkles, the visibility of the scars is ensured as little as possible.
Recovery
Immediately after the neck lift surgery, the patient must wear a compressive, elastic bandage-braces for the chin for 24 hours, and then at night for another month. Minor bruising and swelling may occur, and the swelling generally disappears within two weeks of the surgery.
The stitches are removed on the seventh day after surgery, and the patient is then able to return to their normal daily activities. Heavy exertion should be avoided for another 4-6 weeks.
Precautions
After surgery, swelling and bruising are expected. Therefore, it is recommended to apply cold compresses and lie in an elevated position for the first 24 to 48 hours. It is mandatory to wear a compression garment 24 hours a day for the first month and at night for another month. Possible complications include bleeding, skin and subcutaneous infection. Therefore, it is particularly important to follow all medical instructions and attend regular check-ups.
Scars after the procedure are minimal in most patients since they are located in natural folds of the skin.
