Big double chin

A chin is an aesthetic problem that can affect self-confidence, but there are effective solutions to reduce it, whether through lifestyle changes, non-invasive treatments or surgical procedures.

A large chin, or double chin, indicates a buildup of fat or sagging skin in the area below the chin, which can create the appearance of an extra layer of skin or fat.

For many people, a chin is not only a physical problem but also an emotional one, as it can affect the perception of one’s own appearance.

Aesthetic and functional consequences of a large double chin

  • Aesthetic consequences

A large double chin can make a person's profile look disharmonious, with a pronounced angle between the neck and chin. This can change the overall appearance of the face.

People with a large double chin may feel like their face is "too long" or lacks symmetry. This can affect their self-confidence.

A large double chin can make other facial features, such as the nose or eyes, less prominent because it takes up too much attention.

In some cases, people who feel that their chin is out of proportion to the rest of their face may feel emotional distress due to social interactions or the judgments of others.

  • Functional consequences

A large chin often leads to an improper bite, which can create problems in the functioning of the jaw.

In people with a large double chin, the lower jaw may be displaced forward, which can reduce the space in the throat, especially during sleep.

If the chin protrudes too much, it can cause an unnatural positioning of the jaw and put stress on the muscles of the neck and face.

In rare cases, if the chin is extremely large, there may be problems in the articulation of speech.

Surgical methods for reducing a large double chin

  • VASERlipo ultrasonic liposuction

VASERlipo ultrasound liposuction is a surgical procedure in which the surgeon removes unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body. The procedure is not a substitute for weight loss, but rather a method for removing unwanted fat deposits.

Surgery procedure for the reduction of the big underarm

  1. It is necessary to prepare according to the instructions received – diagnostic tests and anesthesiology examination.
  2. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, which means you are asleep during the procedure.
  3. Fat deposits are extracted from the problem area using special cannulas.
  4. After the operation, you will receive antibiotic therapy and, if necessary, painkillers.

Post-surgery care

You will spend a few hours after the surgery in our Polyclinic under our expert supervision. You will receive antibiotic therapy and, if necessary, painkillers.

For the first 7 to 14 days, it is mandatory to wear a compression bandage 24 hours a day, in order for the skin to re-adjust and adapt better, reduce swelling and secretion accumulation, and then only at night for the next month. Greater exertion, as well as more demanding exercise, should be avoided for the first 4 to 6 weeks.

Risks and complications

It is important to follow all necessary instructions during recovery. You should not remove the compression bandage on your own. During rest, you should lie in an elevated position, take prescribed medications, and attend regular check-ups and dressing changes to minimize possible complications.
