Lip augmentation mostly involves the injection of a specific product to achieve greater volume or enhanced lip profile projection, highlighting certain areas and emphasizing the color (redness) of the lips.
Lip augmentation is most often performed on people who primarily have smaller volume—i.e., thin lips—or on older individuals in cases where tissue atrophy has occurred in the lip area. Lip augmentation is also done for anyone wishing to emphasize the sensuality of their lips and achieve better facial symmetry.
At Poliklinika Bagatin, we use resorbable fillers based on hyaluronic acid.
Juvéderm hyaluronic dermal fillers
are produced by Allergan, a company primarily focused on health that was among the first to develop aesthetic-medical treatments more than 35 years ago and is today recognized worldwide as a leader in injectable products.
Their range of hyaluronic dermal fillers is produced using advanced Vycross technology, offering treatments with a good safety profile that provide natural-looking and long-lasting results.
At our Polyclinic, the most commonly used filler for lip augmentation is Juvéderm Volift, which delivers long-lasting results and a full appearance.
Additionally, depending on clients’ wishes and the appearance of the lips, other Juvéderm products such as Ultra 3, Volbella, and others may be used.
Belotero Lips Shape & Contour
hyaluronic dermal fillers from the well-known global manufacturer Merz Aesthetics are also designed for lip shaping. Belotero Lips Shape is ideal for lip augmentation and enhancement of the upper and lower lips, while Belotero Lips Contour is perfect for restoring the lip contours.
Both products contain a total of 1.2 ml (0.6 ml each), which allows our doctors to achieve optimal results during application. They are also the only fillers on the market for lip shaping that come in different densities, enabling the doctor to fully customize the treatment according to the area being treated and shaped.
The combination of these dermal fillers for lips is accompanied by a new technique called Lip Lush, developed by an international team of doctors.

This treatment is intended for everyone who wants to improve the appearance of their lips, whether it’s due to loss of volume, asymmetry, or smoothing out wrinkles.
It is a fact that the lower lip is naturally more dominant than the upper lip. The lips themselves are very complex, and it is necessary to consider the entire periorbital region. If your chin is small, if the lower or upper jaw is small, or if your teeth and bite are irregular, it is important to think about how to compensate for that deficiency and provide support to the lips.
If you identify with any of these aesthetic ‘challenges’ and are generally in good health, lip augmentation treatment is for you.
The goal is always to achieve a balance between the upper and lower lip. The lower lip should be fuller, while the upper lip should be slightly pushed forward and enlarged.
Before the procedure, it is important to define with the doctor what kind of effect you want to achieve, as this will determine the amount of product to be used. It is also important to choose the correct type of dermal filler because not every filler is ideal for this treatment or provides the best results for lip augmentation, which our doctor will advise you on.
During the consultation with the doctor, you should mention any diagnosed allergies, medications you are taking, and discuss any potential health issues.
It is important to emphasize that you should never overdo it. During the first treatment, it is better to apply a smaller amount of product and gradually build up if you want more, rather than ending up with an undesired result or overfilled lips, commonly known as “duck lips.”
As with any change to your face or body, it is extremely important to be realistic and aware of your possibilities. If you naturally have small and thin lips, you cannot get lips like Angelina Jolie’s. Similarly, if your lips have already been treated and are oversized, a conscientious doctor will advise you on how to achieve a natural look.
The preparation for the procedure involves removing makeup and creams from the face and disinfecting the area to be treated.
Lip augmentation at Bagatin Polyclinic is performed using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers in the form of injections, after applying anesthetic cream and spray on the lips.
There are several techniques for applying hyaluronic dermal fillers to achieve various effects. Some techniques include: injecting filler along the inner lip border to highlight the lip lines, injecting filler into only one lip (upper or lower) if there is a significant volume difference, or emphasizing the Cupid’s bow at the lip’s peak with fillers.
Doctors may choose to apply the filler using a needle or a cannula; the technique used depends on the client’s wishes and the natural shape of the lips.
The procedure is short and well tolerated, and there is no pain immediately after the treatment.
Since the lips are delicate tissue that reacts to injections, it is important to note that the lips will be swollen for 24–48 hours after treatment, and this swollen appearance is not the permanent volume.
After the initial swelling subsides, the lips will gradually decrease in size and take on the shape and volume agreed upon during the consultation.
Due to the injection punctures, lips will be slightly swollen right after filler application.
It takes 2–3 days for the swelling to completely go down. If bruising appears on the upper or lower lip the next day, it is recommended to gently apply an ice cube in circular motions on the lip. Keep in mind that the ice should never be kept in one spot on the lip or pressed hard; instead, gently move it around in circles. If needed, taking tablets to reduce swelling and pain is allowed.
After the initial swelling of the lips subsides, the final result is expected after two weeks.
During this period, the filler will naturally redistribute and adjust to the muscle tissue. Any irregularities or possible white spots on the mucosal fold will correct themselves and disappear during this time.
If bruising occurs, it will fade within a few days. You can freely cover it with makeup 24 hours after the application.
Initially, lips may be swollen and even slightly bluish (like bruises), but these symptoms significantly decrease within 48 hours after the treatment. Swelling can be relieved by taking tablets to reduce swelling and drinking plenty of fluids, while bruises can be eased by gently applying ice cubes on the lips.
After the treatment, do not consume alcoholic beverages, Lupocet, Paracetamol, Andol, Aspirin, or any other blood-thinning medications for 24 to 48 hours.
Do not rub, massage, or push the filler into your lips with your fingers—this is strictly prohibited. After the injection, the doctor will gently massage the lips to redistribute the filler where needed. If you feel any lumps after a day or two, contact us, and you will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment if necessary.
It is not recommended to apply any creams or ointments after filler application.
Also, on the first day after the treatment, it is necessary to avoid wearing makeup.
In cases of oral herpes, certain diseases such as diabetes or systemic lupus, any scars, connective tissue problems, or blood clotting issues, lip augmentation treatment is not recommended.
For prolonged duration of fillers in the lips, after the swelling completely subsides, it is recommended to maintain proper daily care using lip balms with active ingredients like antioxidants, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid.
The package includes the cost of the filler, the injection procedure, and a follow-up check after 3–4 weeks.
If you decide to proceed with the treatment during the consultation with the doctor, the consultation fee is included in the treatment price.
In cooperation with banks, Bagatin Polyclinic offers the possibility of installment payments, including interest-free payments up to a certain number of installments.
