We have always paid special attention to the selection of partners with the aim of ensuring top-quality products for our clients. In order to continue to maintain a high level of quality services in the field of dental medicine, we have decided on implants from the Swiss company Straumann.
These are osteogenetic replacements that are the result of almost 20 years of experience, work and research. They are top-quality products manufactured to the highest world standards, ensuring longevity and reliability.
Straumann manufactures its precision tools and dental implants with their accessories in Villeret (Switzerland) and Andover (USA), while it produces regenerative tissues in Malmö (Sweden).
Why Straumann?
Straumann dental implants are made of titanium and titanium alloys, which are characterized by high strength, low weight and exceptional corrosion resistance, which has contributed to their wide and diverse use in highly demanding reconstructive medical procedures.
The biocompatibility of Straumann implants contributes to much faster osseointegration, i.e. fusion of the implant with the surrounding bone.
Every Straumann implant carries a material warranty, which guarantees the absence of any material defects. Also, every Straumann implant has a unique serial number.
Potential candidates are individuals who have one or more missing teeth, have good oral hygiene, and are in stable general health. Contraindications include uncontrolled chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes), therapies (chemotherapy, radiation), and insufficient bone mass. In these cases, preoperative procedures (augmentation, sinus lift) may be necessary. .
Before the procedure itself, it is extremely important to conduct thorough diagnostics and planning to ensure the best possible outcome of the therapy. At Bagatin Polyclinic, patient preparation includes the following steps:
The first step involves taking modern diagnostic scans – orthopan panoramic scans and CBCT (3D) views of the jaw. These scans should not be older than six months because they provide accurate insight into the anatomy of the jawbone, bone density, as well as the position of surrounding structures such as sinuses and nerves.
Based on the images, the dental team assesses whether there is enough bone for stable implant placement. In case of bone deficiency, additional procedures such as bone augmentation or sinus lift may be planned to ensure optimal conditions for implant therapy.
After analyzing the diagnostic findings, individual implant placement planning is carried out. Planning is carried out with the help of specialized software and digital tools that enable precise determination of the ideal position of each implant – taking into account the aesthetic and functional needs of the patient.
During the consultation, the patient is informed about all phases of the therapy, the duration of the procedure, the expected results, as well as the rules of oral hygiene after implant placement. The goal is for the patient to be fully informed, confident, and willing to cooperate throughout the entire process.
Straumann implant placement is a precise and safe procedure that is carried out in several stages at the Bagatin Polyclinic, with expert supervision and an individualized approach to each patient. The operation is minimally invasive, performed under local anesthesia and is usually completely painless.
If a tooth is still present at the site of the future implant and is damaged, dysfunctional, or inflamed, it is first professionally extracted. In certain cases, it is possible to place an implant immediately after extraction – the so-called “same-session implant”, depending on the condition of the bone and the overall health of the tissue.
Once the implant site is prepared, the surgeon precisely drills a socket in the jawbone according to the pre-planned position. This phase is performed using special Straumann surgical instruments and guides, which ensure maximum precision and safety of the procedure.
The implant – a high-strength, biocompatible titanium screw – is placed in a previously prepared socket and stabilized in the bone. Thanks to Straumann’s advanced technologies, such as the SLActive® surface and Roxolid® material, the implant quickly and safely fuses with the bone (osseointegrates), ensuring long-term stability.
After placement, the implant is covered with sterile protection and gum tissue, and the wound is closed with stitches. This is followed by a healing phase that usually lasts 3 to 6 months, during which the implant fuses with the bone. During this period, a temporary prosthetic restoration can be made to preserve the aesthetics of the smile and the functionality of chewing.
After the implant has successfully fused with the bone, a so-called gingiva-former is inserted – a small extension that shapes the gums and prepares them for the installation of the final crown. This phase lasts about 10 to 14 days and is crucial for the natural appearance of the gums around the new tooth.
After the gingiva is formed, a precise impression is taken and an individual prosthetic restoration is made – ceramic crown, bridge or prosthesis – which is then fixed on the implant. High-quality materials are used that faithfully imitate the natural appearance of teeth and fit perfectly into the dental row.
Recovery after dental implant placement is an individual process that largely depends on the extent of the procedure, the patient’s general health, and compliance with the recommendations of the dental team. Straumann implants, thanks to top-quality materials and the innovative SLActive® surface, enable faster and safer integration with the bone, which in many cases significantly shortens the healing process.
Duration : Recovery begins immediately after the procedure, and the most intense symptoms usually last 2 to 5 days.
Symptoms : You may experience mild pain, swelling, tenderness, or slight bleeding. These are all common and temporary.
Cooling : It is recommended to apply cold compresses externally to the cheek for the first 24–48 hours to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Medications : If necessary, analgesics and/or antibiotics are taken as directed by the doctor. The first few days
Diet : It is recommended to consume soft, cold or lukewarm foods (soups, purees, yogurts) and avoid chewing on the implant side. Hot, spicy and hard foods should be avoided.
Hygiene : Careful and gentle oral hygiene is extremely important. It is recommended to use antiseptic solutions (e.g. chlorhexidine) and avoid direct brushing of the surgical site in the first few days.
During this phase, the implant fuses with the bone (osseointegrates). This process can last from 8 to 16 weeks, depending on the individual characteristics of the body and the position of the implant.
During this period, the patient regularly comes for check-ups to monitor the progress of healing and possibly make corrections or arrangements regarding the further course of therapy.
If a temporary prosthetic restoration is made, the patient can use it for everyday functions, but with caution and additional hygienic care.
Most patients can return to light daily activities the day after the procedure. It is recommended to avoid intense physical activity, smoking and alcohol consumption for at least a week after the procedure, in order to reduce the risk of complications and speed up recovery.
After the final installation of a crown or other restoration, it is important to maintain regular and thorough oral hygiene.
Regular check-ups every 6 months, professional cleaning and education on proper implant maintenance are recommended.
With proper care and professional supervision, Straumann implants can last for decades, even a lifetime.
After installation of the Straumann implant, it is important to follow all the instructions of the professional team in order to ensure proper recovery and long-term success of the therapy. Although it is a routine and safe procedure, certain precautions are essential to prevent complications and encourage the healing process.
Avoid rinsing your mouth for the first few hours after the procedure so as not to disrupt the initial clotting process and formation of a protective layer.
Do not touch the wound with your tongue, fingers or toothbrush , especially on the first day.
Do not smoke , as nicotine significantly slows healing and increases the risk of implant failure.
Avoid physical exertion and sudden head movements, bending and lifting heavy objects.
Avoid hot foods and drinks for the first 24 hours.
Do not consume alcohol for at least a week after the procedure.
Eat on the opposite side of the jaw , if the implant is installed on only one side.
Avoid hard, sticky, or spicy foods until the wound has completely healed.
Gently brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush, avoiding direct contact with the treatment site for the first few days.
Using antiseptic mouthwashes , as recommended by a dentist, usually twice a day for 7 to 10 days.
No nose blowing if the procedure was in the upper jaw near the sinuses – to avoid pressure on the implant.
Monitor possible symptoms such as severe pain, severe swelling, fever, or persistent bleeding – and contact your dentist immediately if you have any doubts.
Regular controls in the office according to the schedule – to monitor the process of osseointegration and to react in time if any problem arises.
In cooperation with banks, Bagatin Polyclinic provides the option of paying in installments, as well as interest-free payments up to a certain number of installments.
