Laser hair removal is a medical procedure in which unwanted hair is removed using a diode laser, which creates an intensely pulsating beam of a precisely defined wavelength (810 + 940 nm).
Laser energy is also used to prevent hair regrowth.
To achieve this, the laser energy must penetrate a few millimeters into the skin to reach the hair root. The moment it reaches the melanin in the hair, the light is absorbed, i.e. converted into heat.
The darker and thicker and denser the fur, the more heat is produced. This heat damages the stem cells around the hair as well as the area immediately adjacent to the hair shaft which is responsible for regrowth. This enables a drastic reduction of hair in the treated area.
The Polyclinic Bagatin in Zagreb has one of the latest PrimeLase Excellence 4,800 W diode lasers with contact cooling, which enables maximum painless epilation .
Although laser epilation successfully removes hair, the number of treatments depends on psychosomatic and physiological factors that define how many treatments are needed for the desired result.
The effectiveness of the treatment depends on the color and thickness of the hair, as well as the depth of their roots. In the case of red and light hair, many more treatments are needed than for black hair, and sometimes the results are not satisfactory.
The result of the treatment also depends on any endocrinological problems and the client’s genotype. In order to achieve the greatest possible effectiveness, it is important to agree on a treatment plan with a specialist, depending on your skin and hair type. After the treatments, occasional maintenance treatments may also be necessary.
Legs, armpits, upper lip, chin, bikini area, intimate area and arms/forearms, back and chest in men are most often treated with lasers. Thanks to the most advanced technology and high working speed, PrimeLase Excellence With laser, both legs can be treated in 12 minutes, the arms in 9 minutes, and the back in just 4 minutes.
The Bagatin Polyclinic offers as many as 9 lasers that treat almost all aesthetic problems.
Laser hair removal is best for clients who want to achieve a long-lasting feeling of smooth skin. The most suitable candidates are people with lighter skin color and dark hair, but those with darker skin can also undergo laser epilation. Also, if you are also troubled by the problem of ingrown hairs, this is the ideal solution. After just a few treatments, you can forget about the painful processes that ingrown hairs can cause.
In the case of ingrown hair problems, dark spots on the skin are most often a negative side effect. After all hair removal treatments have been completed according to a defined treatment plan, you can best get rid of them with a laser to remove hyperpigmentation and other pigment changes . Also, if you are one step away from beautiful legs after removal because you are bothered by cracked veins and capillaries, the new Quanta laser is ideal for you, which will remove all unwanted capillaries.
Before each laser treatment, we provide you with a free consultation with our medical cosmetologists, where you will receive a recommendation on the number of treatments and will discuss the treatment, preparation for it, and precautions in detail. Our medical cosmetologists will also provide advice and instructions on resolving any other skin issues.
If you are interested in permanent laser hair removal, choose a specialist whose team specializes in dermatology or cosmetic surgery.
Some of the main tips for preparing for laser hair removal are as follows:
After applying the hydrogel, the laser handle is placed on the skin and moved over the area being treated.
The laser emits pulses of energy on a surface measuring 8 – 14 mm, which the client feels as light pricks.
During the permanent hair removal treatment, you will feel a slight cooling sensation thanks to the skin cooling system built into the laser. The cooling attachment also has a mild anesthetic property, making the treatment of sensitive areas relatively painless.
You may feel a slight pinching or stinging during the treatment, but it is worth noting that most clients tolerate the procedure well.
It is important to undergo treatment several times at intervals of 4 to 8 months. Why?
Hair grows in specific phases, and the melanin that contains the base of the hair is connected to the root only during the growth phase.
Different types of hair reach this stage at different times, which means that how many laser hair removal treatments are needed and whether treatments should be stopped after a year depends on the individual.
You may notice redness and slight swelling for the first few hours after your laser treatment.
To reduce discomfort, you can apply ice packs to the treated area.
The Bagatin Polyclinic staff will recommend a gel or another type of cream and lotion that are available in our retail store.
If your skin reacts adversely immediately after laser hair removal, your specialist may apply a steroid cream to the treated area.
After laser hair removal, you should avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. Also, be prepared for possible hair loss in the first few weeks after treatment.
Laser epilation does not guarantee permanent hair removal.
Certain hairs may be resistant to laser treatment and grow back, but thinner and lighter.
Skin irritation
Occasional discomfort, redness, and swelling are possible after laser hair removal. All signs and symptoms usually disappear within a few hours.
Pigment change
Laser hair removal can darken or lighten the treated skin, usually temporarily. Skin lightening occurs most often in people with darker skin, especially if the laser is used incorrectly in an inappropriate environment.
Changes in skin texture
It's rare, but laser hair removal can cause swelling, peeling, sores, or other changes in skin texture.
