Locations
Persistent hairs seem to grow where we least want them. And often because of them, our skin is darker, has an uneven complexion, structure, is irritated and inflamed. Is there a solution for long-term hair removal? There is! Laser hair removal or laser epilation is a treatment that will save your life.
Laser hair removal offers a permanent solution. The diode laser is the preferred means of permanent hair removal because it emits light at a wavelength that is mostly absorbed by the hair follicle or root.
The follicle is the place where the hair takes on color or pigment, which is also the target point of the laser’s action.
What does a permanent hair removal treatment look like?
To prevent hair regrowth, laser energy is used, which must penetrate a few millimeters into the skin to reach the hair root. When it reaches the melanin in the hair, the light is absorbed, i.e. converted into heat.
However, you don’t need to worry about the heat generated by the laser because the diode laser is equipped with a system that cools the treated area immediately before the pulse is emitted. This ensures greater comfort and safety during the treatment.
The main difference between other laser treatments and diode laser treatments is that the light beam targets dozens of hairs at once, which reduces the number of treatments needed to complete the entire procedure.
This procedure is even faster today because at the Bagatin Polyclinic we offer two lasers. The speed of the treatment depends on the size of their probe with which the desired area is treated.
MedioStar Next, with a smaller probe, is mostly intended for facial hair removal (upper nose and chin), armpit hair removal, and the bikini area. While the diode medical laser – MedioStar Next PRO XL is used for larger surfaces such as the legs and has sensors in it that enable applicability to all skin phototypes.
The duration of the treatment is minimized, and even when using stronger energy, the treatment still guarantees minimal risk and a pleasant treatment for each client.
Compared to IPL devices for home epilation that work on the principle of intense pulsed light (not to be confused with lasers), the diode laser gives incomparably better and more lasting results.
What hairs can be treated with permanent hair removal?
It is important to know that the thicker, denser and, above all, darker the hair, the more heat is produced. This heat damages the matrix cells around the hair (so-called genocells ) and the area immediately adjacent to the hair shaft, which is responsible for regrowth.
This allows for a drastic reduction in hair in the treated area. It should be noted that this makes it difficult for lasers to detect gray hair and hair with very light pigment.
One of the myths I often encounter in communicating with clients is that laser works equally well on all types of hair. No!
For example, in the case of red, blue and gray hairs, more treatments are needed compared to black hairs. The same as the myth that laser hair removal can only increase hair growth. That is absolutely impossible.
You can read more about the myths and truths regarding permanent hair removal that we often encounter in our blog on the subject, which you can find here.
Skin care tips
The area to be treated should not be exposed to sunlight or a solarium for at least 2 weeks prior to the treatment. If you are treating areas that are not exposed to the sun (e.g. bikini area or underarm waxing), you can have the treatments done at any time.
If you can’t or don’t want to give up the sun, creams with high protection factors can help. All of the above precautions have two reasons. The first is to reduce the likelihood of side effects, and the second is to increase the effectiveness of the laser treatment itself.
After each procedure, it is advised to strictly avoid sunlight and tanning beds, which makes winter the ideal time of year to undergo such procedures.
In addition to the mandatory application of a cream with the highest protection factor, we will advise you on appropriate nourishing and moisturizing care on the outside and continuous hydration on the inside.
Client experiences
When it comes to hair, we’re talking about enemy number 1 for most women. Razors, wax, creams, facial waxing, armpit waxing, and irritated bikini areas have become an integral part of the life of almost every woman who knows how hard it is to keep her skin beautifully smooth and hair-free.
Therefore, it is not surprising that we receive numerous enthusiastic reactions from our female clients, as well as numerous male clients.
According to their experience, laser hair removal is the best thing that happened in their life and the best investment ever. They got rid of ingrown hairs, very frequent inflammations, and consequently scars and hyperpigmentation.
I don’t even have to talk about saving time. Both women and men come to laser epilation equally, for whom one of the most critical areas is the chin, that is, the neck due to frequent irritations caused by shaving. We often do the treatment on the chest area and the upper part of the back.
I can fully convey to you the experience of one client whom we followed from the beginning of her adventure, through a total of six (out of seven) treatments.
The problem was hard, dark hair that grew back on a weekly, even daily basis. The inflammatory processes, open wounds, scabs, scars, and, primarily, the pain she suffered, and then the discomfort with her legs “as if she had just come out of a war,” disappeared after the first treatment.
So, after her first laser hair removal treatment, not a single hair has ever grown back. You can’t even imagine how lucky she is!
The amount of hair on my legs started to decrease after the second treatment, and today, after a total of six treatments, the remaining hairs can be counted on the fingers.
