Dental bridge

A dental bridge is a popular solution for replacing one or more missing teeth because it offers numerous advantages

Description of the procedure

A dental bridge is a type of permanent prosthetic work used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge consists of two or more interconnected crowns that are fixedly attached to natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap.

In the event that a person is missing one tooth, a three-unit bridge is made and fixed to the two adjacent healthy teeth.

When three teeth are missing, a dental bridge can also be made, in which case two implants are first placed, which will later serve as bridge supports.

Bridges can have multiple members and can be fixed to teeth or implants using the same principle.

Candidates

Patients who are missing more than one tooth in a row and patients who are missing one tooth and the surrounding two teeth are superficially damaged or aesthetically unacceptable.

Preparation

During the first examination and after a detailed diagnosis, our dentist will perform a complete oral cavity examination. Before starting the dental bridge, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the teeth of tartar and repair any cavities on them.

Procedure progress

If natural teeth are used as abutments, they must first be ground down to create space for the crowns. In the event that implants are required, they must first be placed and integrated with the bone.

After preparing the abutments, impressions are taken and sent to a dental laboratory for bridge fabrication.

While the permanent bridge is being made, the patient is given a temporary bridge to protect the prepared teeth and maintain chewing function.

When the permanent bridge is ready, the dentist places it and checks the fit, function and aesthetics. If everything fits, the bridge is permanently cemented to the supports.

Recovery

Recovery after dental bridge placement is usually short.

There may be mild discomfort or sensitivity, especially to cold or heat, in the first few days. This can be relieved with mild analgesics.

Precautions

Maintaining good oral hygiene includes regular brushing, flossing, and using interdental brushes to clean under the bridge.

Avoid hard and sticky foods that can damage the bridge.

Regular inspections help monitor the condition of the bridge and early detection of potential problems.

Adequate oral hygiene combined with an examination at the dentist every 6 months will ensure the longevity of your prosthetic work.

They said about us...

I live in Sweden, and I'm currently on vacation in Croatia. A problem arose yesterday. An awkward meeting of the four on the left above and - crack. I call my former dentist. She's on vacation, but she recommends the Bagatin Polyclinic. Aren't they the ones that the famous and rich go to? I get an appointment for tomorrow morning, but I'm skeptical. They're probably just after crowns and implants. Wrong!!! The doctor who saw me is a very cool dentist. I emphasize, dentist. That means a doctor who puts your needs first. He listened to me and helped me completely in accordance with what I asked of him. Professionally, thoughtfully and carefully. And he even managed to make me laugh. Well done! Thanks to that, I will definitely keep the Bagatin Polyclinic in mind if I decide to have any serious dental procedures in Croatia. Thank you to the Bagatin Polyclinic and Dr. Radić!

"After years of hiding my smile, I can finally smile without shame again. Dr. Radić impressed me from the start with his expertise and calmness. Every examination and procedure was explained in detail, and I felt safe from the first contact. I would also like to especially praise the technicians who were always there with a smile and a warm word. The feeling that you are in the best hands is priceless.

Frequently asked questions

1. What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic restoration that fills the gap between two teeth by being attached to adjacent (supporting) teeth or implants, and replaces one or more lost teeth.

2. When is a dental bridge the right solution?

A dental bridge is recommended when one or more teeth are missing and the adjacent teeth are healthy enough to support the bridge structure.

3. Is the installation of a dental bridge painful?

No. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless. After the procedure, there may be short-term tooth sensitivity.

4. Can I eat normally with a dental bridge?

Yes. After a short adjustment, patients can chew and speak normally without any problems. It is recommended to avoid very hard foods that could damage the construction.

5. What is the difference between a dental bridge and an implant?

A dental bridge relies on existing teeth, while an implant replaces the root of the tooth and does not affect neighboring teeth. Implants are a longer-lasting and less invasive solution, but they require more time and a different course of therapy.
