CAD/CAM technology is becoming a gold standard which enables quick and precise production of prosthetic replacements (crowns, veneers, bridges, inlay). With our Planmeca CAD/CAM system you can get the new tooth or have new veneers fit in only one visit.
A digital revolution has been taking place in dentistry in recent years. This digital revolution enables a new level of dental treatment methodology where the patient’s health and comfort are a priority. With the help of advanced and sophisticated systems, the treatment has become more precise and simple, and the procedure more comfortable and quicker, with much less stress and reduced number of visits to the dental office.
CAD/CAM technology plays an important role in this approach. CAD/CAM stands for Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing, and for 40 years it has been widely applied in many fields which require great adaptability and precision (space, aircraft and automotive industry). In dentistry, CAD/CAM is used for production of prosthetic replacements (crowns, veneers, bridges, prosthetic fillings) which requires great precision which is directed at satisfying the individual needs of every person in the shortest possible time.
CAD/CAM technology is used in making:
At Poliklinika Bagatin we use the CAD/CAM system of the renowned Finnish company Planmeca. This system has an ability of integration into our Planmeca Promax 3D digital imaging device, enabling a new level of diagnostics and reconstruction of teeth with implants and prosthetic replacements. Our CAD/CAM system consists of 3 parts. The first part is the intraoral scanner Planemeca PlanScan which uses blue laser beam for making a digital image of the tooth in only 5-6 minutes. With the help of this scanner, it is no longer necessary to use the standard dental impression, which can be quite unpleasant and impractical, for smaller restorative procedures. After the precise digital image of the teeth and soft tissues is done, the image is entered into Planmeca PlanCAD Easy programme which serves for replacement designing.
Planmeca PlanCAD Easy software enables dental workers to design replacements, taking anatomic characteristics into account, and helps to demonstrate the final look of the tooth to the client. The final design is sent into production with the help of Planmeca Planmill 40 device which makes the prosthetic replacement. The procedure is extremely quick and it enables the production of one crown within 12 minutes.
By using the CAD/CAM technology, our dental prosthetics specialist completely controls the final result and makes sure the desired look of the tooth is anatomically perfectly shaped. This method of production of prosthetic replacements is done without a laboratory or with minimal assistance of a dental technician, which reduces the possibility of mistake to a minimum. The material we use for the production of prosthetic replacements is porcelain; e.max to be more precise, which is characterised by firmness and which is the best for imitating the natural look of teeth.
Main advantages of CAD/CAM technology in dentistry:
CAD/CAM system in dentistry enables a reliable, precise and quick approach to treatment. This approach increases the client’s satisfaction because the client spends less time in the dental stool, there are less repetitions of procedures, the treatment is shorter, and the overall experience is better.
