Laser tattoo removal

As the popularity of tattoos increases, more and more people want to remove their tattoos. In fact, research has shown that 20% of people with tattoos have regretted their decision. Fortunately, advanced technologies can help those who want to remove unwanted tattoos. Our clinic uses the latest technology of laser removal of tattoos that can completely remove or at least fade your tattoo.

About the procedure

These photographs show the real condition before and after the procedure. The results of each procedure are subject to individualities and normal variability of surgical results. Consequently, Bagatin Clinic cannot guarantee equal results for each individual client.

Today we are witnessing the increased demand for removing tattoos. On average, one of the two persons wants to remove the tattoo that is about ten years. This is a result of inevitable changes in fashion and styles, or simply of aging and growing up.

Asclepion TattooStar Effect Combo was created for removal of tattoos and pigmented lesions because it is equipped with the air which penetrates the skin and reaches the ink particles dispersed in its deeper layers. The pigments are absorbed by light energy and decomposed. Once destroyed, they are removed by the lymphatic system. The treatment with this laser is quick and very effective, it doesn't cause injury or scarring. Q-switch generates extremely short pulses that enable less tissue damage and after-effects of laser tattoo removal treatment. This type of laser works much faster than traditional lasers and therefore the removal of tattoos is less time-consuming.

This technique often requires multiple treatments, even for removal of small tattoos, because tattoos are located in different layers of the skin. It is generally difficult to remove the ink that has basis of green color. The laser breaks down black ink easily, while it is the easiest to remove non-professional tattoos made at home, primarily due to the use of poor quality ink, as well as ineffective tattooing technique.

Just like every person, every tattoo is different. There is no service that can guarantee 100% success or give you the exact time of disappearance of tattoos. Our clinic uses the most advanced technology available to achieve the highest rate of success in the complete removal of tattoos.

FACTORS THAT MAY AFFECT THE RESULTS OF THE REMOVAL

Shades of color and types of ink

Black, dark and red tattoos are easiest to remove, while it is more difficult in case of orange, pink, brown, purple, yellow and other lighter shades. The most difficult thing is to remove turquoise, light blue and light green colors. The more it is difficult to remove colors, the more treatment is needed. The shading effects used for empathizing are removed more easily. It is important to realize that there are hundreds of ink types used in tattooing, and their use is not regulated. The lack of standardization of tattoo ink makes it difficult to predict the result of tattoo removing procedure. It would be of great help if you could give us some kind of certificate or some statement describing the types of ink that were put into your skin when you make an appointment for tattoo removal.

Skin tone

Skin tones are classified into six different types, from the lightest (Type I) to the darkest (Type VI). People with the skin tones I, II and a lighter shade of III are the best candidates for laser removal of tattoos, because they are less prone to the changes of skin color after the treatment.

In people with the darker skin tones the change of skin color can occur, which is called dischromia. This increases the need for number of treatments because removal is more delicate. Sometimes the removal of tattoos requires up to 2 years, and one needs to be patient.

The age of tattoos

The newer your tattoo is, the more treatments you will probably need.

Am I a candidate?

Not everyone is a good candidate for laser removal of tattoos. Since it is more difficult for the laser to locate the ink in darker skin, the candidates with medium sun burnt or unsunned skin are the best. Those who easily get scars, have autoimmune diseases or take certain medications are not good candidates. Also, people who have applied metallic shiny colors (often car enamel) to enhance the shine and pearly effect of the tattooed skin are not good candidates for removal.

During your consultations we will examine your medical history, highlighting potential complications versus the benefits of laser removal of tattoos, explain the costs, and determine the number of treatments needed. We will answer your questions and respond to your concerns to introduce all the aspects of treatment to you before you make the final decision.

How do you prepare?

Prior to the treatment it is necessary to do the following:

  • Shave the treatment area, if necessary
  • Avoid sunbathing and tanning beds for several weeks prior to treatment
  • Apply lotion to sensitive areas prior to treatment
  • Remove make-up and deodorant

During the procedure

During the treatment the probe of the laser rests on the skin, and after its activation the light impulse starts which produces a slight tingling feeling on the skin. The laser arm then passes over the tattoo area. After this the treated area fades. For older tattoos, as well as for those located in the deeper layers of the dermis or those with scars, it will be necessary to combine two different lasers – TattooStar Effect Q switch (Nd:YAG or Ruby) and Erbium YAG laser.

During the treatment the laser beam penetrates the skin till the upper layer of ink or dirt particles which absorb the light energy. Due to the mechanical effect of extremely short light blasts, the ink particles rapidly disintegrate and disperse. After that the lymphatic system of the body easily removes dispersed pigment particles within 2-4 weeks, and sometimes up to several months.

Tattoo removal requires several treatments in order to destroy all pigments of the ink. The next treatment, if needed, is possible in 6 to 8 weeks. The number of treatments depends on the density of tattoo color, depth of color, tone, size and location of the tattoo.

Recovery time

After the treatment the skin may blush and you may experience a strong feeling of warmth. After a few hours the treated area may become red and small scabs can appear. All of this completely disappears in a couple of days.

After the laser removal of tattoos we will give you instructions about care after treatment. These instructions were created by medical experts for tattoo removal in a way to achieve maximum efficiency of every single treatment.

Below are some tips on care after treatment:

  • It is necessary to cool the treated skin 15-30 minutes as long as you don't feel any discomfort.
  • Do not touch the scabs.
  • At home the skin should be treated with certain creams.
  • Protect the treated area from the sun or other strong light for at least 1 month – apply sunscreen (factor 50+) if you are staying in the open.
  • If there is an unexpected change of the skin, immediately contact your doctor.

Precautions

No medical procedure is entirely without risk. The skin may lighten for a short time or hyperpigmentation can occur, but both phenomena are regulated by the skin itself. Very rarely there may be small scars.
