Breast augmentation surgery or augmentation mammoplasty is one of the most common procedures in the Bagatin Clinic. It is necessary to stop smoking four to six weeks before the procedure, and two weeks before that stop taking aspirins, herbals or any other supplements that affect blood coagulation and certain medications that inhibit the formation of inflammation, because  their contents can cause significant bleeding.

12 to 24 hours before the procedure we  recommend: the day before the procedure use antibacterial soap and leave the foam of the antibacterial soap for about 10 minutes on the part of the body that will undergo surgery. Repeat this procedure in the morning. Wash the breast and underarm area thoroughly.
Eight hours before the surgery: Do not eat or drink, remove all jewelry, remove nail polish on hands and feet.

Breast augmentation surgery usually takes about two to three hours and is performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure an incision is made under the breast in a natural groove breast, around the lower edge of the nipple or underarm area. In order to go home after surgery in secure and good general condition, you will be placed in the recovery room overnight because you have been subjected to general anesthesia. After the procedure is carried a soft, comfortable compression bra is obligatory to be worn for four weeks in order to reduce post-operative swelling and retain implants where they are placed. You may return to normal activities gradually over the next two to three weeks, while greater efforts can be performed after six weeks.

Drainage is usually not made after cosmetic breast augmentation, but such possibility exists, and it is not to worry if you are put a small surgical drain, mostly through one night, while your breasts will be wrapped with elastic bands. After surgery, you will continuously get strong painkillers  intravenously. Patients sensitive to painkillers may have nausea and it is necessary to immediately inform the nurse.

Recovery time that takes after breast augmentation depends on the procedure that is performed on the patient. Most patients need help during the first and second day, and after that can usually take care of themselves, but there is a possibility that help should be needed in caring for young children. A patient on a second day after the operation can function normally, but it can be individually. Many are able to return to work within 7-10 days, but it depends on the individual. It is necessary to avoid hard efforts and heavy lifting during the next 4-6 weeks.

Every surgical procedure carries certain risks, such as risks of anesthesia, infection, bleeding and swelling. These complications occur rarely and can usually be avoided.
