Conscious sedation is one of the ways to deal with fear in patients suffering from dental anxiety or dental phobia.
It provides a relaxing experience for the patient and relieves the feeling of discomfort during extensive and more difficult dental procedures.
In our Polyclinic we offer a conscious sedation by means of nitrous oxide.
Nitrous oxide is administered with oxygen through the nose mask; it removes fear and discomfort, it relaxes and reduces the urge to vomit, the sense of time, and the trauma of the procedure.
It is an ideal solution for fearful patients, for those who have a strong urge to vomit, for children who cooperate, but require a more extensive procedure and for children who do not cooperate during dental procedure and / or examination.
Controlled use of oxygen and nitrous oxide by inhalation also reduces emotional stress, perception of pain and anxiety. Thanks to this, the cooperation with the doctor is facilitated, while vital reflexes remain unchanged.
After requesting nitrous oxide treatment, the doctor will talk to you in order to inform you about the procedure and gain insight into your health.
Inhalation sedation can be used for all dental procedures and is especially important for longer dental procedures because it reduces the patient’s idea of its duration.
It is an ideal solution for children who are reluctant to go to the dentist, adults with discomfort or fear and those who are unable to cooperate fully with the dentist.
Is it necessary to have a companion?
Yes, after sedation, you have to have a companion to go back home.
What do I do if I want to quit the ongoing process?
Nitrous oxide inhalation sedation can be discontinued at any time without consequences for the patient. The dentist will turn off nitrous oxide flow and interrupt the sedation procedure.
What are the benefits of nitrous oxide sedation?
The benefits are great for both the patient and the doctor.
The most important thing is that the patient loses the fear of the procedure and the idea of its duration, thus making it easier for the doctor and reducing the duration of the treatment.
Have allergic reactions been reported in patients?
No allergic reactions have been reported in nitrous oxide conscious sedation.
