VASER Lipo ultrasound liposuction is a surgical procedure in which a surgeon removes the unwanted deposits of fat tissue from certain body parts, including the neck, upper arms, upper and lower back, abdomen, thighs and hips, buttocks, all with the purpose of body contouring. The procedure is not a replacement for weight loss, it is a method of removing the unwanted deposits of fat tissue.
Advantages of ultrasound liposuction are:
Oftentimes, the fat deposits can be transplanted into another body part, such as face, breasts, or buttocks, or be used to correct irregularities from a previous liposuction. The unwanted fat deposits are purified and put into small syringes to be injected into areas intended for the transplant. The fat deposits are most often transplanted into the face, thus filling the areas with a lack of volume or prominent wrinkles. Advantages of this transplant technique lie in the nature of results, durability and usefulness of fat deposits, which are unwanted in some body areas and needed for contouring and volume in other body areas.
VASER Lipo can also be used to treat the abdomen, hips, belly, male and female breasts, hands, back, buttocks, thighs, calf roots, ankles, with the purpose of removing excess fat deposits and precise body contouring, as well as treating double chin and neck.
Good candidates for VASER Lipo ultrasound liposuction are people with active lifestyle who work out regularly but cannot lose fat deposits in certain areas. VASER Lipo is a procedure which can remove the problematic areas and uncover the smooth contours of your body. It is important to emphasise that VASER Lipo is not a weight loss solution because the weight can be regained after the surgery. The purpose of this procedure is removal of fat deposits in people who are fit and healthy.
The procedure is normally done under potentiated local anaesthesia with a possibility of administering oral sedative. If required for a larger area of body, a more complicated procedure may need to be considered; in agreement with an anaesthesiologist, such a procedure can be done under general anaesthetic.
The procedure is performed by inserting a thin probe into the fatty tissue with a purpose to inject specially prepared and diluted local anaesthetic and adrenalin solution through a 5 mm incision on the skin, which has a dual effect– on one hand the solution “dilutes” the fat tissue, and on the other side it acts like a medium through which the ultrasound exclusively affects only the fat cells. After injecting a special solution through the same, already created incisions on the skin, the ultrasonic probe is introduced into the fat tissue. As the probe moves through the anaesthetic-soaked tissue, ultrasonic energy is emitted from the top of the probe while the operator gently moves it through the treated body area. Due to the effect of the ultrasound, its energy is transferred to molecules of water in the solution, stimulating them into movement of very high frequency, which results in the direct breakup of fat cells and creation of a uniform layer of so called mass emulsion. After the ultrasonic emulsification of fat, another probe (cannula) is inserted through the same incisions on the skin. With this probe, through a vacuum pump, the surgeon “sucks” such fat without the need for rough mechanical fragmentation of fat tissue.
The advantage of VASER Lipo ultrasound liposuction is even fragmentation (emulsification) of fat cells, while the blood vessels, capillaries, nerves and collagen in the tissue remain intact. Precisely for this reason, postoperative trauma, pain, bruises and other possible complications are significantly reduced compared to classic, mechanic liposuction, and the skin withdrawal and its adjustment to the new muscle contour is faster and improved.
Compared to traditional liposuction, VASER Lipo requires less recovery time. The length of recovery after the procedure depends on the scope of treatment. Most people require 7 days to get back into everyday routine. During the initial post-operative period you might not be able to assess your new contour, but the results are visible immediately. However, after a few months you will notice visible differences – whether your belly is slimmer or your buttocks shaped nicer – and you will love the body parts you didn’t used to love.
After the procedure it is necessary to wear post-operative garments to prevent possible swelling and help the skin adhere to the newly formed, now visible muscle layer without the “fat pillow”.
VASER Lipo is a minimally invasive procedure approved by the FDA. It causes minimal or no physical trauma of connective tissue, nerves and blood vessels. As with any surgical procedure, VASER Lipo has some risks, but VASER technology significantly reduces those risks in comparison with traditional liposuction techniques.
The most common risks are swelling, bruising and post-operative unease. With unexperienced surgeons the risks are more serious. Too much tumescent fluid can damage the lungs, and if the ultrasonic probe is not used properly there could be burns. The aforementioned risks are greatly mitigated by choosing a qualified and experienced surgeon.
